Call Recording & Consent
Calls answered by your GrayWorks AI receptionist are recorded and transcribed automatically — for billing (connected minutes), quality, and support.
1. Two-Party / All-Party Consent States
Some states (for example California, Florida, and Pennsylvania) require that all parties to a call be notified before it is recorded. If your business operates in, or receives calls from, one of these states, you may be legally required to disclose that the call may be recorded before your AI receptionist begins the conversation.
2. Built-In Recording Disclosure
GrayWorks automatically appends a brief recording disclosure to every agent greeting: “Just so you know, this call is recorded for quality.” It is spoken at the top of every call your receptionist answers, including while service is paused or discontinued. You do not need to add anything.
3. Current Product Behavior
Because the disclosure is added for you, do not add your own recording notice to the Greeting field — it would be spoken twice. Configure your greeting as you normally would; the disclosure is attached automatically after it.
4. Your Responsibility
Consent and notification laws vary by state and by who is on the call. The built-in disclosure is a starting point, not legal advice — it is the business owner's responsibility to determine which laws apply to their business and callers. Consult your own counsel for your jurisdiction's specific consent needs.
